Position Summary:


The Apprentice Tradesman assists a certified or licensed skilled tradesman in all phases of work associated with a particular trade and is responsible for learning the duties in an apprentice training program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.








Duties & Responsibilities:



Set - Up Duties:



+ Knowledge of principals and practices of set-up for athletic and revenue generating events.


+ Ability to operate sound, lighting and all equipment as needed.



Comprehension and Decisiveness:



+ Interpret work orders (written and verbal).


+ Perform set-ups as required.


+ Ability to follow schedules, troubleshoot and correct client related matters as needed.



Maintenance Equipment Duties:



+ Perform all maintenance duties such as housekeeping, repairs, painting, P.M.'s and other duties as assigned.



Initiative:



+ Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Convocation Center services, its customer's needs and recognizes opportunities to make improvements.



Public Relations:



+ Interact with all staff and guests in a professional and ethical manner.










Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


Knowledge of basic meA-Statering tools, equipment, and materials used in the various skilled trades.


Ability to perform manual labor under various working conditions, use hand and power tools in various working conditions, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and communicate information and ideas in various environments.


Skill in the use, operation, and care of tools and machinery.








General Days/Hours:


Monday - Friday

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Additional hours as requested and/or needed

Must work any day, any shift as needed based on event schedule...may work days, nights,weekends or holidays as deemed necessary








Other:


Provide customer service, event support, client relations in a professional and ethical manner. work with clients, athletics, food services, facilities, box office, concessions, marketing, hr as required by position








Minimum Qualifications:


Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent


Completion of sufficient education or training to read and write.


Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or parts of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
